Tour description

This 7-day Machu Picchu Tour offers a complete experience in and around Cusco. It begins with a warm welcome in Cusco and acclimatization, followed by a tour of the Sacred Valley, including Pisac, Ollantaytambo, and a train ride to Aguas Calientes. The highlight is a guided visit to Machu Picchu, followed by tours of the city of Cusco, Saqsayhuaman, Qorikancha and the Colored Mountain. You will also explore the salt mines of Maras and the agricultural terraces of Moray, ending with a transfer to the airport.

Itinerary

DAY 1: ARRIVAL TO CUSCO - HOTEL NIGHT IN CUSCO

This day we wait for you at the airport to take you to the hotel, where you will be welcomed with an aromatic infusion of coca leaves, which will help you with altitude problems and acclimatize.
Overnight in Cusco.

NOTE: This day meals are not included, but we can give you suggestions of restaurants where you will be able to taste the Cusquenian gastronomy.

DAY 2: SACRED VALLEY TOUR - TRAIN TO MACHUPICCHU - HOTEL NIGHT IN AGUAS CALIENTES

Breakfast at Hotel
7:30am – 8:00am Pick up for the tour to the Sacred Valley.8:25 am Beginning of the tour to the Archaeological Center of Pisaq, a
majestic place for the distribution and use of its agricultural terraces, in addition to the picturesque village of colonial times that stands out for its jewels worked in silver of the highest purity.
12:00 pm After finishing the visit we will go to the town of Urubamba, where we will enjoy a buffet lunch.
14:00 We will go to the town of Ollantaytambo – the only living Inca city that has a majestic temple to the Sun, in addition to all the architectural ensemble that it keeps.
After visiting the town of Ollantaytambo we will go to the train station to board the train that will take us to the town of Aguas Calientes.
19:27 Departure of the train, you will have a journey of 1h40min approx. by the valley that runs along the Urubamba River, seeing on the way snow-capped mountains, lush vegetation typical of tropical zone and archaeological evidence of unique beauty.
Upon arrival at the train station in Aguas Calientes, the agency guide and the hotel staff will be waiting for you to take you to the hotel.
Once you are settled in the hotel, the guide will give you the information for the next day’s tour.
Overnight in Aguas Calientes.

DAY 3: MACHUPICCHU BY TRAIN FULL DAY TOUR

After breakfast the guide will be waiting for you at the meeting point to drive you to the bus station that will take you to the
Machupicchu Archaeological Park (30 min. trip approx.).
Before entering the park you must present your ID and entrance ticket.
07:00am You will have a guided tour of 3hrs approx. inside the citadel, visiting the most important and beautiful places of Machupicchu.
At the end of the tour, you will board the bus back to Machupicchu or Aguas Calientes.
Free time for lunch and visit the town.
20:20 Train to Ollantaytambo Station.
16:30 Bus back to Cusco (2hrs trip approx.).
29:00 Arrival to Cusco approx.

Includes: Bus ticket up and down from Aguas Calientes town to Machupicchu Archaeological Park, entrance ticket and guide.

Train tickets in tourist service Inca Rail – Voyager.

DAY 4: CITY TOUR - HOTEL OVERNIGHT IN CUSCO

Breakfast at the Hotel.

Departures : PM: 12:40pm – 18:00hrs

Pick up from the Hotel to start the tour.
Visit of the Temple of the Sun or Qorikancha, the most sacred place in the Inkan times. It was the Temple of the Sun God which housed objects made of gold to offer to the gods and place where the “Seqes”, imaginary lines along the Tawantinsuyo Empire where the “wakas” were located, sacred places of veneration for the Inkas.
The Cathedral Basilica of Cusco, the place where the Cusco parishioners go to attend mass. It is the most important Catholic religious precinct and is the place where many paintings of the Cusco School of the colonial era are kept, inside is the sculpture of the Sworn
Patron of Cusco, the Moreno Christ or Lord of the Tremors, better known in Quechua language as the Taytacha of the Tremors.
Transfer to the Archaeological Park of Saqsayhuaman, places to visit:
- Saqsayhuaman – Ostentatious for its architecture and sacred for its symbolism. Place where the largest rocks are found in the entire city of Cusco, the shape of its construction attracts the attention of all visitors.
- Q’enqo – Stone table and place of embalming of bodies and mummifications. The Inkas knew how to take advantage of what nature offered them and only adapted their temples to the rock formations in the area.
- Tambomachay and Puka Pukara – Temple to the water, located in the Tambomachay Community. Place of veneration and worship of water as a source of life and indispensable element for agriculture.
End of the tour.

DAY 5: MOUNTAIN OF COLORS FULL DAY

4:30 am Pick up from the hotel to go south to the town of Cusipata (2hrs approx.), where we will enjoy a delicious breakfast to fill us with energy for the hike to the Montaña de Colores.

After breakfast we will head eastbound between the beautiful Andes mountains and passing through beautiful villages, the trip will be about an hour until we reach the parking point and start the hike.In this place you can rent horses if you wish, but the adventure is to hike for an hour enjoying the scenery and an easy access road, the last half hour is where we will measure our resistance to the altitude, it will be a little steep road, but slowly and chewing some Coca leaves we will reach the viewpoint (5200 meters above sea level) from where we will see the beautiful mountain of colors. After the explanation of the guide and take pictures. We will begin the descent to the place where the transportation will be waiting for us to take us back to the place where we will have lunch.

After that we will return to Cusco, arriving at approximately 5pm.

It is recommended to visit this place after acclimatization in the city of Cusco.

DAY 6: MARAS MORAY TOUR (HALF DAY)

8:45 am Pick up from the hotel to start the tour.
9:00 am Drive to the town of Chinchero.
After a trip of approximately 45 min. we arrive to the town of Chinchero.

Chinchero. – Picturesque town that stands out for its fine textiles where you can appreciate in detail the craftsmanship that since Inka times to date get colors to dye wool, spinning and weaving of the same. Also the architectural structure of the Inka period that still survives.

10:30 am Departure to the salt mines of Maras. Salt mines that since before the Incas and until now are still exploited for consumption and for its high quality in minerals is exported each year to the world. The dry season (May – August), is the time when this product that nature provides to the people of this area to support themselves economically is extracted.
12:00 pm Last visit of the circular terraces of the Inka era, considered a laboratory for agricultural experimentation, due to the difference of degrees in each of these terraces and that made possible the adaptation of the products in the different altitudinal levels of our region.
