Humantay Lagoon is located at 4180 meters above sea level. (13,779 feet) located in the district of Mollepata – Soraypampa, on your tour you will enjoy truly beautiful landscapes offered by the Apurímac River valley, in addition to the flora and fauna.

This day begins with hotel pickup between 4:30 to 5:00 am. Afterward, we will board our transportation to travel northwest of the city of Cusco to the town of Mollepata (a 3-hour journey), during which we will pass through the lush vegetation of the Apurímac River valley.
Upon reaching the quaint and picturesque town of Mollepata, we will enjoy a delicious breakfast at 8:00 am to fuel up for the day. We then continue our journey northeast towards the starting point of our hike – Soraypampa, located at an altitude of 3,900 meters (12,795 feet) above sea level.
The landscape, flora, fauna, and the breathtaking view of the imposing and majestic Salkantay Mountain (6,271 meters or 20,574 feet) make this place a beautiful and spiritually enchanting setting. These mountains have been considered sacred since Inca times and continue to be revered by locals through offerings such as coca leaves and other ceremonial items.
After a brief rest at Soraypampa, we will begin our hike towards Humantay Lake to the north, situated at an altitude of 4,180 meters (13,779 feet) above sea level.
We will take a calm and steady hike, enjoying the scenery and being mindful not to exert ourselves too much due to the altitude. After approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes of ascent, we will reach the marvelous Humantay Lake, fed by the thaw of the mountain of the same name. This lake, also known as Turquoise Lake, offers a stunning backdrop for photographs and a moment to appreciate its natural beauty.
Following the guide’s explanation, we will have some free time to enjoy the scenery and capture the memories of this beautiful adventure. The guide will then indicate when we will begin our descent back to the starting point of our hike – Soraypampa. From there, we will board our transportation back to Mollepata to enjoy a well-deserved and replenishing lunch around 1:00 pm.
Finally, after lunch, we will return to the city of Cusco.
It is recommended to visit this location after acclimatizing to the altitude in Cusco to fully enjoy and appreciate the experience.
